To Infinity & Beyond…

Well, 2011 is coming to a close.  It’s been an amazing year for the Men Who Dine.  We’ve eaten at some amazing restaurants from 4 star culinary bastions to hand pulled noodle shops in New York City’s Chinatown.  We’ve also met and befriended some amazing and talented people in the “industry”.  And throughout it all, we learned much and have a better understanding of who we are as the Men Who Dine.

We are looking forward to 2012 with an open mind and most importantly an empty stomach.  We are working on numerous projects and look forward to sharing all of the details with you soon.  We hope that you continue to follow us on our culinary journey through our crazy world.  Make sure to follow us on both Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/menwhodine) and Twitter (@MenWhoDine) for our daily gastronomic adventures.  Thank you!

“Time to Eat the Doughnuts”: A Visit to Mark Isreal’s Doughnut Plant

“Mmm!!  Doughnuts!!”  That might be Homer Simpson’s favorite phrase, but that was our collective response upon entering Mark Isreal’s Doughnut Plant on Grand Street in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.  The doughnuts we sampled on our visit were truly life changing.  There are not many doughnuts before or since that have stacked up to Mark’s.  Mark is a true doughnut master.  When in NYC, these are the doughnuts to try.

3rd Annual Latke Festival & Cookoff at BAM

Who doesn’t love a good latke?  We certainly do.  So when we found out about the 3rd Annual Latke Festival it was a no brainer that we had to attend.  Traditional homemade latkes are amazing.  But it’s also great to see how top chefs such as Bill Telepan, Julian Medina and Ron Ben-Israel put their spin on this mainstay of Jewish kitchens.  Every latke we tried, and boy did we try a lot, was awesome and had something special about it in its own right.  We can’t wait until next year’s festival!
