Alex’s Lemonade Stand is an organization that we are honored to support. There mission is of the utmost importance; to fight against childhood cancer. We attended this years NYC event hosted by our friend Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto.
Lemon NYC draws culinary greats from across the country who understand just how important it is to help in fighting against childhood cancer and donate there time and skills to help raise much needed funds.

One thing we are firm believers in is making friends for life!! And so begins the tale of how we ended up at the Cascella/Telepan Family Cookout last Sunday. We met Vito and Cindy Cascella last December at the Brooklyn Academy of Music during Edible Brooklyn’s Annual Latke Festival. Cindy’s brother is the very talented chef Bill Telepan of Telepan Restaurant on NYC’s Upper West Side. We’ve been acquainted with Bill for quite some time, but this was our first time meeting Vito and Cindy. We hit it off instantly and by the end of the night after a few beers and many latkes, Vito and Cindy invited us to their annual family BBQ/cookout.
Wellness in the Schools (WITS) Annual Benefit – May 22, 2012
We’ve made some amazing friends in the restaurant/food world, one of our finest friends is Chef Bill Telepan of Telepan Restaurant on NYC’s Upper West Side. Bill is an advocate in serving our children healthy and wholesome food in our school’s cafeterias. Every year, his charity WITS (Wellness in the Schools) holds a benefit to raise awareness and funds for this great cause.
3rd Annual Latke Festival & Cookoff at BAM
Who doesn’t love a good latke? We certainly do. So when we found out about the 3rd Annual Latke Festival it was a no brainer that we had to attend. Traditional homemade latkes are amazing. But it’s also great to see how top chefs such as Bill Telepan, Julian Medina and Ron Ben-Israel put their spin on this mainstay of Jewish kitchens. Every latke we tried, and boy did we try a lot, was awesome and had something special about it in its own right. We can’t wait until next year’s festival!
