For many people the world over, coffee is a way of life, plain and simple. Whether it’s that initial jolt of caffeine in the morning or a latte at a cafe with friends, coffee is a part of our society.  But not all coffees are created equal.  This is something, we learned first hand over the weekend at illy’s Welcome Center at the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival.

Beer and burgers!  Now that’s a pair any guy can get behind, especially when the burgers are being prepared by the one and only Chef Zakary Pelaccio of Fatty Crab & Fatty ‘Cue.  Zak has teamed up with Amstel Light to craft burgers that pair perfectly with Amstel’s beers.

Last night, we were invited to Chef Charles Phan’s book launch party at Union Square Event’s Kitchen in NYC.  Chef Phan is the chef/owner of the Slanted Door in San Francisco, California.  His new book entitled “Vietnamese Home Cooking” showcases the flavor and simplicity of a Vietnamese home kitchen.

Here’s a little tease of the awesome bites at Chef Michael Lomonaco’s newest restaurant/cocktail bar located on the 4th Floor of the Time Warner Center in NYC. We were lucky enough to be at last night’s friends & family opening. The food and drink were exceptional.

Jose and Dr. Beatriz Garces are proud to announce that tickets are on sale now for the First-Annual Garces Family Foundation Gala, to be held on Wednesday, October 10 at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The Garces Family Foundation will serve the greater Philadelphia area’s immigrant population and help to fund much-needed healthcare and nutritional programming. Funds raised at the Gala will support Puentes de Salud (“Bridges of Health”), whose co-founder and executive director, Dr. Steven Larson, will be the event’s honoree.
