A huge congratulations to Jonathan Waxman for 10 years of incredible food and fabulous memories at Barbuto. Ten years is a major milestone for any restauranteur, but to achieve that mark in New York City is monumental. Over the years we have had some of the best meals of our lives at Barbuto and have had the privilege of working with Jonathan on several charities that he is involved with. Not only is Jonathan a true legend and culinary visionary, he is a humble, generous and a man of character.
Lemon NYC for Alex’s Lemonade Stand is one of our favorite events of the year. Spearheaded by Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto, Lemon: NYC is a unique event that brings culinary greats from around the country to create a one-of-a-kind four-course, family style meal for attendees. Each table of guests at the event is randomly assigned one of the participating chefs who not only cooks a special meal for them to enjoy, but also serves it to the table allowing for exclusive interaction with these renowned chefs. In addition to a delicious meal, fabulous live and silent auctions further enhance the indulgent and inspiring evening.
Founded in 2012 by Chef Jose and Dr. Beatriz Garces, The Garces Family Foundation is an organization committed to help the growing immigrant population in Philadelphia and the surrounding neighborhoods. Garces Family Foundation raises funds for local nonprofit organizations that are committed to improving the health and education of underprivileged immigrant citizens. The Men Who Dine were graciously invited to attend the black tie gala event at The Kimmel Center. Philadelphia’s top chefs came out to support this great event and cook an extraordinary meal.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand is an organization that we are honored to support. There mission is of the utmost importance; to fight against childhood cancer. We attended this years NYC event hosted by our friend Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto.
Lemon NYC draws culinary greats from across the country who understand just how important it is to help in fighting against childhood cancer and donate there time and skills to help raise much needed funds.
Jose and Dr. Beatriz Garces are proud to announce that tickets are on sale now for the First-Annual Garces Family Foundation Gala, to be held on Wednesday, October 10 at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The Garces Family Foundation will serve the greater Philadelphia area’s immigrant population and help to fund much-needed healthcare and nutritional programming. Funds raised at the Gala will support Puentes de Salud (“Bridges of Health”), whose co-founder and executive director, Dr. Steven Larson, will be the event’s honoree.
