Katz’s Famous Delicatessen: At the Altar of Pastrami
Katz’s Famous Delicatessen
205 East Houston Street (corner of Ludlow St)
New York City
There’s something special about walking into an old-school NYC Jewish deli, especially Katz’s on the Lower East Side. I don’t know if it’s the ticket you get when you enter the door; the bright, fluorescent lights; or the wonderful aromas of pastrami, corned beef, knishes, and pickles. It’s not the most romantic place, but I guess Harry did meet Sally there or something like that.
3rd Annual Latke Festival & Cookoff at BAM
Who doesn’t love a good latke? We certainly do. So when we found out about the 3rd Annual Latke Festival it was a no brainer that we had to attend. Traditional homemade latkes are amazing. But it’s also great to see how top chefs such as Bill Telepan, Julian Medina and Ron Ben-Israel put their spin on this mainstay of Jewish kitchens. Every latke we tried, and boy did we try a lot, was awesome and had something special about it in its own right. We can’t wait until next year’s festival!
